Pittsburgh City Council is ready to consider a renewal of the City’s Cable Franchising Agreement with AT&T/TCI. At stake is the ability of Pittsburgh residents to have affordable access to high-speed cable modem Internet access with the service provider of their choice.

If Council does not vote to include a clause in this contract renewal that specifically requires AT&T to give competing Internet Service Providers (ISP) access to the broadband network at the same rates, terms, and conditions that they sell to their own ISP partner, Pittsburghers will no longer have the right to consider and choose the ISP that is best for them.

What’s more, the agreement—as it is now written—would force us to pay twice to receive Internet service from our preferred provider.

Please demonstrate your support for consumer choice and competition on the internet, by saying "yes" to open access and to an amendment to the City of Pittsburgh’s cable contract with AT&T that provides local ISPs with access to the high-speed broadband cable network.

"Yes, I support consumer choice, and demand that City Council ensure open access for local ISPs through its agreement with AT&T/TCI."
